Register online as a user on myNSFAS or re-register a myNSFAS account

  • Go to www.nsfas.org.za
  • Click on the “MyNSFAS” tab
  • Click on “Register
  • Tick the box to allow NSFAS to verify your details
  • Then enter your ID number on the field as it is stated on your South African Identity Document (ID)
  • Type in your full name and surname as per your ID number
  • Type in your current email address
  • Confirm your email address
  • Type in your cellphone number
  • Create a password
  • Confirm password
  • Upload your ID Copy
  • Click on register
  • An OTP will be sent to the email and cell number provided (this OTP expires after 24 hours)
  • Type in the OTP and click submit
  • You have now completed your re-registration

 

How To Check Your MyNSFAS Account Status

You will need your MyNSFAS Email and password to check your status online. Now with your internet-connected smartphone or computer, Open your web browser.

  • Step 1: Visit the MyNSFAS student portal via-www nsfas.org.za
  • Step 2: Next, Enter your Email and Password in the field provided.
  • Step 3: Finally, click on the Sign-In button to access your application status

After login into your NSFAS account, applicants can now apply for the funding now.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will require more information from you to process your application, so you need to provide the following supporting documents to ensure your application is successful.

  1. Provide your own cellphone number and email address
  2. You must have a copy of your ID or birth certificate
  3. National ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
  4. The evidence of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 if necessary
  5. The proof of income of your parents, guardian, or spouse.
  6. If you are a SASSA grant recipient, you don’t need to provide any evidence of income.
  7. All Applicants with a disability should provide and submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
  8. An applicant known as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

 

How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application Form

  1. Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
  3. Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
  4. Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
  5. Update your personal information
  6. Answer the questions you see on the screen
  7. Upload all the required supporting documents
  8. Finally, you click on ‘submit

Nsfas Application Opening Date: Are you still struggling to know the NSFAS application opening date? The NSFAS online application for the 2023 academic year opened on 28th September and closed on the 31st of January.  Prospective applicants are to apply during this time period in which applications for funding were active. You cannot submit an application for NSFAS funding for the 2023 academic year after the application is closed on 31st January 2023. Now that you know the NSAS application opening date for 2023, prepare all the relevant documents for the application and follow the simple steps below to apply online.

Who Qualifies For NSFAS Funding?

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
