The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a beneficial scheme in South Africa which seeks to support poor students or parents financially. To access your NSFAS funding progress, applicants must complete the NSFAS Application Online Form for the 2024–2025 academic year in order to be eligible for this funding The Nsfas online application opening date for the 2024 study season begins on the 7th of November 2023 and closes on the 21st of January 2024. it is advisable to apply on time.   1. Provide your own cellphone number and email address
  2. You must have a copy of your ID or birth certificate
  3. National ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
  4. The evidence of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 if necessary
  5. The proof of income of your parents, guardian, or spouse.
  6. If you are a SASSA grant recipient, you don’t need to provide any evidence of income.
  7. All Applicants with a disability should provide and submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
  8. An applicant known as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

  7. Upload all the required supporting documents
  8. Finally, you click on ‘submit


Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
