A South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) office close to you is where you can submit an application for an SASSA food parcel. The application form is available at your nearby SASSA office but cannot be found online.

Please submit your application together with the necessary documents:

your 13-digit barcoded identification document and the birth certificates of your kids
An affidavit from your local police station, chief, councilor, or religious leader may be sufficient if you don’t have identity or birth documents.

The R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant application period is still active and will end in March of 2019. Online submission of an SRD grant application is one of the most popular methods.

The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) award, commonly known as the R350 grant, was launched as a new Sassa grant by the South African government in reaction to Covid-19 and its effects on the economy.

Applicants must make sure they meet the requirements before applying:

citizens, permanent residents, asylum seekers, refugees, and holders of special permits from South Africa
Unemployed
have no other means of assistance for your finances or a backup income source.
No other social grants, UIF, or NSFAS are given to those between the ages of 18 and 60.

How to Apply Online for the R350 Grant in 2023-2024

• Access the SRD website.
• Click on the yellow bar after scrolling down to “How do I apply for this SRD Grant”
• Enter your cellphone number
• Enter the one-time pin that Sassa has issued to the phone and then click “send sms.”
• Fill out the Sassa-required forms to continue the application process.

You can also use WhatsApp to submit R350 grant applications by dialing:

• A contact number to add is 082 046 8553.
• Send a message to this number on Whatsapp.
• In the WhatsApp message, make sure to mention your name, last name, and ID number.
• The next steps will be described in a message you will thereafter receive.

Given that SASSA will be engaging with other institutions to verify the information supplied by applicants, all applicants will need to sign a statement and consent form.

You just need to submit an application once on one channel and not often across all channels. Only one application per applicant will be processed by Sassa. Once applications have been processed, SASSA will get in touch with the selected candidates.
