There are new rules for the Sassa R350 grant now that the National State of Disaster has ended. Here is how to apply for an R350 incentive under the new regulations.

The R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is currently accepting applications, however it expires in March 2019. Online submissions are among the most used methods for SRD award applications.

In reaction to Covid-19 and its repercussions on the economy, the South African government established a new Sassa grant known as the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) award, also referred to as the R350 grant.

The following eligibility requirements must be met before submitting an application:

  • South African nationals,

  • long-term residents,

  • refugees, asylum seekers,

  • holders of special permits

  • Unemployed

  • have no other way to support themselves or make a living.

  • There are no other social grants, UIFs, or NSFASs given out to anyone between the ages of 18 and 60.

How to Apply for the R350 Grant Online in 2023

  • Visit the SRD website.

  • Scroll down to the section under ‘How do I apply for this SRD Grant?’ and click on the yellow bar.

  • Enter your mobile phone number.

  • Click “send sms,” then enter the one-time pin sent by Sassa to the number.

  • Continue the application procedure by following Sassa’s instructions.

Applications for R350 grants can also be filed via WhatsApp at:

  • Adding this number: 082 046 8553

  • Send a text message to this number.

  • In the Whatsapp message, give your name, surname, and ID number.

  • You will then receive a message outlining the next actions you must do.

All applicants will be required to sign a statement and consent form since SASSA will work with other institutions to verify the information offered by applicants.

Instead of applying many times, you simply need to do so once per channel. Each candidate may submit just one application to Sassa. SASSA will get in touch with the chosen applicants after processing the application materials.
