A Social Relief of Distress grant is a one-time gift given to a person who is in desperate need. The award benefits those who are unable to support their families’ or their own fundamental requirements. The grant could come in the form of cash, gift cards, or food. To qualify for Social Relief of Distress, you must meet one of the conditions stated below:

Despite being in a dire situation, you are ineligible for a grant.

  • You have a medical condition that prevents you from working for less than six months.

  • You cannot get child support from your child or the other parent of the kids.

  • The family’s primary provider passed away.

  • The primary earner has spent a short time behind bars (less than six months)

  • Although your neighborhood or community has been affected by a disaster, it has not been declared a disaster area.
