UJ online registration dates 2024-2025

Following the completion of the 2023 academic year, please take note of the following important information and dates for the 2024 academic year. The University has successfully integrated our WhatsApp with our UJ ChatBot; you can now also retrieve information via this route by simply adding UJ as a contact to your phone (+27 87 240 6854).

REGISTRATION DETAILS

1.1 Registration opens on 15 January 2024 until 9 February 2024 (only online, off-campus registration will be allowed) for
returning/continuing students.

1.2 Access registration at https://www.uj.ac.za/admission-aid/registration/ and follow the step-by-step guide.

1.3 You will only be able to register off-campus. The University cannot guarantee your space, and it is important to register as
soon as possible to secure a place. Note that the registration dates may be adjusted in which case such details
published on the UJ website.

1.4 Students who have only second-semester modules that are outstanding will also be required to register during the
registration period in January 2024.

1.5 Please take note, that in the case of compulsory modules that have not been passed in the previous year, the registration
system has been set up to register those compulsory modules first. You may not register for modules where prerequirements are not met.

1.6 Students in contact programs who interrupt their studies are required to apply for special permission from the relevant
Faculty/College to continue their studies. Continuation of studies, after an interruption, is not guaranteed and may be subject
to conditions since certain qualifications are being phased out. For a full list of programs being phased out, please
consult your respective faculty yearbook https://www.uj.ac.za/faculties/.

1.7 Students may not attend lectures for a program or module if they are not registered for it.

1.8 Students must review their proof of registration, to ensure that their modules/program registration is correct for the
entire year. It remains the responsibility of the student to ensure correct registration.

Steps to register online:

The document below shows the steps needed for registering UJ Online

Step 1: Go to the University of Johannesburg’s website and click the Admission > Apply for Admission link for applicants seeking undergraduate or graduate admission (UJ Online Application). Following that, you can choose your course of action and proceed to the registration, application, and document uploading stages. This link will take you to the Online Application System at the University of Johannesburg.

Step 2: Register for classes at the University of Johannesburg online. After clicking the link in step one above, you will be directed to the University of Johannesburg Online Application System form, where you must enter all required information. Individuals who are applying for the first time have never used the University of Johannesburg’s online application system before and do not already have accounts that allow them to log in using their username and password. If this is your first time applying, you must first register. You must provide your name, email address, password, the type of program you’re applying for, and your qualification mode during the registration stage.

Step 3 requires you to upload supporting documentation; all new qualification candidates must complete this step (all first-time applicants and University of Johannesburg students starting a new qualification). The application deadline coincides with the deadline for uploading the required files. Materials received after the application deadline will not be accepted. Scanners and other electronic equipment are not available at the University of Johannesburg. Before beginning the UJ Online Application procedure, please ensure that your documents have been scanned and uploaded to an electronic device.

After receiving your student ID, the fourth step is to pay the application fee through the University of Johannesburg. Use the reference number for your application fee, as well as your University of Johannesburg student number (ie STUDENT NUMBER 5370810030). After you have paid the fee, your application will be considered and processed. Please be aware that this fee is non-refundable.

UJ implements Facial Recognition for a Secure Registration

In a significant stride towards ensuring secure and fraud-resistant registration processes, the University of Johannesburg has integrated facial recognition technology into its registration process. As part of the registration process, all new students will receive an SMS to follow a personalized link to do a facial recognition verification.

Fraudulent activities outside and Inside University premises.

We alert all our students of the scavengers’ activities that are happening within and outside our campuses. These activities are happening in the form of scams and fraud.

It has come to our attention that there are individuals who pose as university employees or student representatives in an attempt to defraud our students. These individuals will promise to assist students with academic space, bursaries, student accommodation, and or registration assistance in exchange of cash. Once they are given the money, they will either vanish without a trace or use fraudulent credit cards to carry out their promises, the credit card transaction will at the end be reversed leaving the students with enormous debt.

The University of Johannesburg is a cashless environment, and no amount of money must be given to any of our staff members or student representatives to get any assistance. Students and parents are urged to always be alert and to only interact with the university using the official platforms. We also urge them to report any suspicious activities to our fraud line.

Library fines and payment:

The documents below are the requirements needed from applicants when applying to the University of Johannesburg.

Admission Requirements for Degree Programmes;

In addition to regular tuition fees and an R2 000.00 non-refundable international levy, affiliate students must pay a non-refundable ICT levy and registration fee.

Asylum seekers/refugees/diplomat students are exempt from the international levy.

R33 000.00 for Study Abroad
Free moving/fee-paying Island Programmes R33 000.00
Short Learning Programmes Exchange Students R17 000.00

Diploma and certificate programs:

Undergraduate diploma and certificate applicants are not eligible for Matric Exemption or Matriculation Board endorsement (USAF).

Admission Requirements for Diplomas and Certificates

I graduated with honors from high school.
Attain the required total Admission Point Score (APS) for the program of interest.
Obtain the required rating or APS level in each mandatory subject as specified by the faculty.
Complete any outstanding faculty requirements, such as portfolios or clinical placements.
