Nsfas Portal 2024-2025: NSFAS portal is an online platform created by NSFAS. The portal makes it easier for you to manage all things related to NSFAS. You can upload your application, and any supporting documents and even change existing information by signing up for an account and logging in.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS NEEDED WHEN CREATING MY NSFAS ACCOUNT ON THE PORTAL

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will require more information from you to process your application, so you need to provide the following supporting documents to ensure your application is successful.

1. Provide your own cellphone number and email address
2. You must have a copy of your ID or birth certificate
3. National ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
4. The evidence of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 if necessary
5. The proof of income of your parents, guardian, or spouse.
6. If you are a SASSA grant recipient, you don’t need to provide any evidence of income.
7. All Applicants with a disability should provide and submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
8. An applicant who is known as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

How To Create NSFAS Account Online

• Look for the tab named MyNSFAS. Click on it.
• Click on Register.
• Tick the box that will allow NSFAS to verify the details you provide.
• Input your ID number as stated on your ID document.
• Input your complete names including your surname as these appear on the ID document you have provided.
• Input your email address.
• Input your email address again to confirm it.
• Input your cellphone number.
• Input your preferred password.
• Input your preferred password again to confirm it.
• Upload a copy of your ID document.
• Click on Register.
• Wait for the OTP on your cellphone and email address. Remember that this OTP will expire after 24 hours so you must use it right away.
• Input the OTP then click on Submit.

After you have followed all of these steps, you should now be all set up. Every time you have to log in, simply input your correct username and password in the appropriate fields.

How To Login To Your Nsfas Student Portal

You will need your MyNSFAS Email and password to check your status online. Now with your internet-connected smartphone or computer, Open your web browser.

• Step 1: Visit the MyNSFAS student portal via-www nsfas.org.za
• Step 2: Next, Enter your Email and Password in the field provided.
• Step 3: Finally, click on the Sign-In button to access your application status

How to Reset the Password

Already have a MyNsfas account but can’t remember your password? Don’t worry, you can easily reset your Nsfas login password by:

1. Clicking on the “forgot your password” tab and enter your ID number
2. Choose whether you have forgotten your username and password and click “Submit“
3. You will receive an OTP via email and SMS
4. Type in the OTP you received and click “Submit“
5. You will then be required to create a new password.

It goes without saying that not every applicant will be accepted due to the NSFAS’s popularity. Applicant can evaluate the grounds for rejection and submit written justifications for their appeal on the NSFAS website, where the appeals process is detailed (this should not exceed more than 1,000 characters). Every year, the opportunity for appeals closes. It is helpful to be aware of the few predetermined reasons why NSFAS authorities will examine an appeal before beginning the appeals procedure.

What is an appeal?

An appeal is a request to review a decision not to fund a student who applied for NSFAS funding.

Who can appeal?

A student whose application for financial aid is rejected, or the financial aid for a continuing student is withdrawn , may lodge an appeal with the NSFAS.

• The appeal decisions are subject to budget availability.
• Appeals will only be considered for students who has applied to NSFAS for Financial Aid.

Who cannot appeal?

Students are not permitted to appeal if they:

• Are registered for a qualification that NSFAS does not fund;
• They have reached N+2 (or N+3 in the case of students with disabilities).
• The student is a gap year student who NSFAS previously denied financial aid to because s/he did not meet the academic eligibility criteria.
• The institution has not submitted their registration record to NSFAS or has submitted an incorrect registration record such enquiries should be directed to the institution.

How To Appeal Nsfas

A student must lodge an appeal within 30 days of being determined unsuccessful. To submit an appeal, he or she must first log in to his or her myNSFAS profile and provide the requested information.

You will need to do the following actions in order to appeal your rejected application:

• Go to www.nsfas.org.za and log into your “myNSFAS” account.
• Select “Track Funding Progress” from the menu.
• Verify the progress tabs for the application.
• You may submit another application if your application status shows an unsuccessful message.
• a petition by selecting the “Submit Appeal Tab”
• On the ‘Application Appeal’ page, you can view the justification for your application.
• the status of your unsuccessful application
• Following that, you can select an appeal reason.
• then submit verified proof of your justification in the form of documents.
• After that, click “Submit Appeal.”

Document To Attach When Filling NSFAS Appeal

To support their appeal, students must make sure they upload all necessary supporting materials.

These could consist of, but not be restricted to

• medical,
• death of a member of the close family,
• a transcript of grades,
• payslips, etc

Please include supporting documentation to demonstrate your situation. Appeals that include an affidavit as support will be denied. Applications without supplemental materials won’t be taken into consideration.

Within 14 days, the student or applicant must complete any unfinished paperwork relevant to the appeal; otherwise, NSFAS will immediately close the appeal application. The student is required by this procedure to file an appeal along with any necessary supporting documentation within the allotted time frame.

How Long Do NSFAS Appeals Take

Students should utilize the self-service portal to check on the progress of their NSFAS appeal after submitting their form and updating their portal’s information. If the appeal was successful, the portal will say “Approved for funding subject to registration.” The status checker will display “Application Failed” if the appeal is unsuccessful.
It takes the appeal at most 30 days. Sometimes, things could go more quickly. However, the time it takes NSFAS to respond to your application shouldn’t exceed one month.
