Early in August, SASSA opened the second round of R350 grant applications, which will remain open until March 2023.

One way to submit an SRD grant application is through GovChat.

Here is how to go about it:

1. Visit the GovChat website

2. Imput your phone number

3. Complete the Captcha

4. Click ‘LOGIN’

5. Click on ‘SASSA Services’

6. Click on ‘SASSA Grants’

7. Click on ‘Apply for a grant

8. Click on ‘Social relief of distress (R350)’

9. Click on ‘Create New Form’

10. Fill in the required information

11. Click on ‘SUBMIT PERSONAL DETAILS’

12. You will then receive a reference number

All candidates will need to sign a statement and consent form since SASSA will collaborate with other organizations to verify the information offered by applicants.

You must do an SASSA grant status check in order to keep track of the status of your R350 grant application. Click here to learn how to make this happen.

You will be paid after your application has been approved. Since SASSA will determine whether you still qualify regardless of whether SASSA accepted your R350 grant application, you won’t need to submit an application every month.

If SASSA rejects your SRD grant application and you feel it was handled unjustly, you may appeal the decision.

Note: You have 30 days after knowing your rejection status to submit an online appeal.
