The South African government provides social assistance to residents who are in need. The SASSA is in charge of overseeing social grants in South Africa. Those who are in need of government support to raise their level of life and who are in risk of sliding into poverty may be eligible for social grants. Parents with small children, the elderly, and those with disabilities are commonly included.
