To help its residents in need, the South African government offers social subsidies. In South Africa, social grants are managed by the SASSA. People who are about to go hungry and need help from the government to raise their level of living are eligible for social handouts. The elderly, those with disabilities, and parents of small children are frequently included in this group. You must be a citizen of South Africa, a legal permanent resident, or a refugee in order to qualify for a social grant (proof of such status must be provided). What is a means test?

Care dependency allowance

To qualify for the care dependence award, the kid must be under the age of 18 and medically determined to be permanently disabled. It should be noted that a recipient of a social grant is not eligible for social distress relief. Anyone who gets both grants and social aid must pay back the amount of social help they received. All upcoming social aid payments, including any arrears, will be reduced by this sum. However, if the recipient of a social grant received social assistance as a result of a catastrophe, the money will not be returned.
