The government gives social subsidies to South Africans in need. The South African Social Security Agency is in charge of overseeing social grants in South Africa. Social grants are provided to those who are at danger of poverty and need government support in an effort to raise living standards.

The elderly, people with impairments, and parents of young children are frequently among them. All candidates for social assistance must be South African citizens, legal residents, or refugees (proof of such status must be presented). Additionally, they must be South African citizens.

You can easily create an SASSA account online by following these steps:

• Go to: https://services.sassa.gov.za/Account/Register

• Complete the user registration form

• Give us some of your personal information, like your name, last name, ID number, etc.

• Please provide both your phone number and email address. (Make sure your contact information is accurate and that you regularly use it because SASSA may communicate with you via it.)

• Give the password you’ll use to access your SASSA account.

Once you have established an online SASSA account, you will be able to submit award applications.

All applicants must be South African nationals, citizens with a permanent address there, or in-country refugees.

How to apply for the SRD grant online

• Go to srd.sassa.gov.za.

• Scroll to the ‘How do I apply for this SRD Grant’ section.

• Click on the yellow bar which says ‘click here to apply online

• Enter your mobile number.

• Click “send SMS”

• the one-time pin that Sassa sent to the number, and then enter it.
