The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) program began in 2013. It offers assistance with income, pensions for the elderly, payments for child support, and benefits for those with disabilities.

Anyone who is legally residing in South Africa and is unable to obtain employment that pays a livable wage for the following reasons is eligible for assistance from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA):

Requirements for SRD R350 Grant Applications

Applicants must be South African citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylum seekers, or possess special authorization.
