According to SASSA, the application procedure for the R350 award should be as simple and uncomplicated as feasible. Read on to find out how to submit an SRD grant application via GovChat as a result.

Early in August, SASSA opened the second round of R350 grant applications, which will remain open until March 2023.

One way to submit an SRD grant application is through GovChat. Here is how to go about it:

Visit the GovChat website
Imput your phone number
Complete the Captcha
Click ‘LOGIN’
Click on ‘SASSA Services’
Click on ‘SASSA Grants’
Click on ‘Apply for a grant
Click on ‘Social relief of distress (R350)’
Click on ‘Create New Form’
Fill in the required information
Click on ‘SUBMIT PERSONAL DETAILS’
You will then receive a reference number

Since SASSA will be working with other institutions to verify the information provided by applicants, all applicants will need to sign a statement and consent form.

To monitor the progress of your R350 grant application, you must run an SASSA grant status check. To find out how to accomplish this, click here.

Once your application has been accepted, you will be compensated. You won’t need to submit an application every month since SASSA will check to see whether you still qualify regardless of whether SASSA accepted your R350 grant application.

If SASSA rejects your SRD grant application and you feel it was handled unjustly, you may appeal the decision.

Note: You have 30 days after knowing your rejection status to submit an online appeal.
