350 grant 2023-2024
350 grant 2023-2024
To help its residents in need, the South African government offers social subsidies. In South Africa, social grants are managed by the SASSA. A person is given social subsidies if they are in danger of going hungry and require them to raise their level of living. This category typically includes the elderly, people with impairments, and parents of young children. Only South African citizens, legal permanent residents, and refugees are eligible for social grants (proof of such status must be provided). They must also be citizens of South Africa.
What is means test?
A “means test” is used to several social benefits, such as child support, disability, care dependence, and social alleviation of distress. Based on your income and assets, SASSA will use the means test to determine if you qualify for a social grant. Your eligibility for a grant intended for people who cannot afford to live independently is determined by the means test.
