How to Register Online 2023-2024

The steps are as follows

Visit the Unisa web registration page, click here to open the page.
Choose the qualification level and then click “Go“.
Enter your student number in the block provided and the other details as required. (If you don’t have a student number you won’t be able to continue. You’ll need to apply online for admission.)
Check your personal details on screen. Change any contact details that are missing or incorrect. It is very important to provide your correct address and cellphone numbers. Incorrect information may delay the delivery of your study material and prevent you from receiving important information from the university.
Click on the modules from the drop-down list for which you want to register. Ensure that you meet all the qualification requirements for your selected modules. You must
- meet all the pre-requisites and co-requisites for the selected module
- enter the correct module code
- select the correct semester (1 = first semester; 2 = second semester)
* The language of tuition for each module is indicated in the module information.
Do not exceed the prescribed number of modules per semester or year, as this may result in a delay in your registration being processed. Unisa retains the right to remove modules based on the number of credits allowed per semester and in accordance with the fees paid. Please take note of the maximum period of time you have to complete your qualification.
Calculate your fees
- Use the fee quotation link on the Unisa website (http://www.unisa.ac.za/feequote) to obtain a quote for the cost of your modules.
- Note the minimum fee that must be paid before Unisa will process your registration. If these fees are more than you can afford, remove modules until you can afford the fees.
- You can make payment online, using the web credit card payment method.
- If you don’t have a credit card, you can use one of the Unisa payment methods listed on this page . Retain your proof of payment in case of enquiries.

As an applicant, what do I need to know before I apply?

Applicants need to check that they qualify for admission and that they have the necessary documents ready to upload during the application process.

And should make sure:

that I meet the statutory and college admission requirements for my qualification(s) of choice.
that I meet the minimum academic points score (APS) for my qualification(s) of choice.
that I have a valid e-mail address and cellphone number, and I accept that Unisa will communicate with me during the application process using this e-mail address and cellphone number. Please ensure that you provide only one e-mail address and one cellphone number during the application process.
* If you do not have an e-mail address, you may create a free e-mail address via Gmail before you start the application process.
** Remember to save your e-mail address and password.
** It is very important that you check your e-mails regularly for communication from Unisa about your application.

Documents needed for Applying

All applicants beginning a new qualification must upload all the needed documents, which generally consists of the listed below:

Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
Kindly scanned all the listed above documents and Follow the instructions carefully when completing the online application process. Only upload the required documents as individual files and not a complete set of documents as one file. Please ensure that the documents and images you upload are clear.
- Files may not be larger than 2MB (2048KB) each.
- Only black and white documents may be submitted.
- Only the following file types are allowed: PDF (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format file), DOC (Word document file) or TIF (image file)

* Kindly note that, Unisa urge all students who previously applied prior to 2016 to upload all the required documents. Failure to do so may result in a delay in processing your application.

** Some qualifications may require additional documents. Unisa reserves the right to request original documents and/to verify the correctness of submitted documents at any time. Submitting fraudulent documents is an offence in terms of the Student Disciplinary Code.

Students who plan to enroll for classes at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college under the Unisa-TVET agreement can apply via the relevant TVET college or at Unisa via the online or self-help options.

APS simply means Admission Points Score. The Admission Points Score (APS) is a simple calculation method that universities use to determine whether or not prospective students are qualified for a qualification.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ADMISSION POINT SCORE (APS)

Prospective students will need to meet the minimum APS in order to be considered for a specific program.

Normally, each matric topic for which you write an exam awards you points. Your grade in each subject will determine how many points you receive for that course. The sum of the points you acquire for each course makes up your APS score.

HOW TO CALCULATE UNISA APS. A SIMPLE WAY FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

For Prospective students to calculate their APS for UNISA, they will need to add their six subject percentages.

If incase you have more than six subjects, excluding Life Orientation.
The University of South Africa need you to have six subjects in total when calculating your APS for UNISA.

Generally, for each matric subject you write, you get a point. The points you get for each course will depend on the percentage you score in that particular subject. The APS is the total points you accumulate from each course.

Prospective students are required to meet the minimumAPS in order to be considered for a specific program at the University of South Africa (Unisa).
